Wedding weekend and other stuff

by Jessica on March 19, 2013

Good morning, friends! I hope y’all had a nice weekend and that Monday wasn’t too terribly awful. I had a crazy busy day yesterday, hence the lack of a post. First off, let’s go in chronological order and discuss what we did this weekend before I embark on yesterday’s recap. Trevor’s cousin got married on Friday, and though we initially planned on getting a babysitter for the boys, we ended up bringing them (they were invited, too). There were several kids there, and it ended up going very well. There was a dog in the wedding, which Knox thought was absolutely fantastic, and the ceremony was outside, which was great. Brody was enthralled with everything and didn’t make a peep the entire time. It was a super short ceremony, only about ten minutes long. In the habit of children, though, when one behaves, the other does not, so Knox and I walked around during the actual ceremony part. He wasn’t bad, he just wouldn’t be quiet!

He had fun walking around the grounds because it was on a huge pond and in some gorgeous woods with Spanish moss everywhere (very old Southern style), so he loved it.

Brody’s favorite part (shocker) was the reception. The kid ate until I thought he’d explode! He was grabbing handfuls of pimento cheese dip off of my plate faster than I could put it in his mouth. He ate everything, from the dip, to the pasta (mac and cheese bar!) to the tenderloin. He is definitely my child!

We also managed to get the first picture of the four of us where we are all looking at the camera. It’s only taken 13 months, but that’s okay! I feel professional pictures need to happen soon.

When we got back home, Knox crashed and Brody, of course, at some more. He got caught with his hand in a box of Girl Scout cookies… look at that guilty face!!

On Saturday, Trevor had to work. While I was getting ready, the boys played in our room. Knox saw a bunch of pillows piled up on Trevor’s side of the bed (the Brody barricade) and thought he was under them. He said “Daddy!!” climbed in the bed, moved the pillows and was confused as to where Trevor was, so he proceeded to look for him and call for him. It was so cute, but kinda pitiful because he wasn’t there!

After we got ready and ate breakfast, we took Knox for a much-needed haircut. He was looking pretty shaggy! He does great at the local kids’ hair salon while he sucks on a lollipop and watches a movie. All of the stylists there have to go through Autism training to learn how to cut hair for kids on the spectrum- isn’t that amazing?? They have our business, for sure.

Trevor sent me this picture when I was out running errands of how Knox fell asleep. He is very anti-nap right now, so we put him in his room, close his door and hope for the best. Some days he passes out, others he is wide awake and then there are days like this one where he plays until he exhausts himself!

Yesterday, I had a job interview. I’ll give you more details if it works out, but if you follow me on Facebook (this is why you should if you don’t!) you have a pretty good idea! It’s for a marketing position, and the interview went extremely well. My interviewer said he’d be calling me in a day or so with the verdict. I am hoping for the best!

Could you email me the name of that salon? We are visiting my parents who live in Lexington, & my 17 month old needs a haircut but I’m too scared to do it myself. Thanks!
