The Second Interview

by Jessica on January 15, 2013

About two weeks ago, I got an email. One of my references recommended me for a job, and the Chair of the Board of Directors emailed me asking if I would be interested. The position was for Executive Director of a local non-profit organization. Obviously, I was VERY interested! I have been preparing for this interview like crazy, familiarizing myself with the organization, learning everything that I could about it, and I also had to prepare several writing samples for the board since writing would be a huge portion of the job. I had my interview last night, and I think it went very well. I interviewed with two of the board members and they went through the job description, scope of work, etc. It is a LOT of work, but I am just so excited for this opportunity. I’m still in disbelief that this is happening to me, but it just feels right to me. I am nervous, because it would be a lot of pressure and a lot to learn, but it would also be my dream job. Event planning is a huge part of it, which I adore, fundraising, public relations, marketing, social media and the list goes on.

At the end of the interview last night, we set up the second interview for Thursday. I will be meeting some integral members of the organization and seeing how it operates, which I am so excited for. I was not planning on sharing anything about this job interview process until it was totally finished, but I really, really covet your prayers!! I just pray for confidence in this process and for the ability to get the job, if it’s God’s will for me. I just want to be where God wants me to be- I have learned that relying on myself and my own plans gets me nowhere fast. For once, I just want to fully trust in His plan and do what He would have me do. So, thank you in advance for prayers! I promise to keep you all updated on how it goes on Thursday!

It sounds like a lot of responsibility so I hope the pay reflects it! Good luck!

I’m a director at a small non-profit in Atlanta and you’re right, it’s a great job! A lot of work, but very rewarding. I do tons of event planning from tennis and golf tournaments, formal balls and silent auctions. It’s a lot of fun! Let me know if you ever have any questions. I will definitely send a prayer up for you!
