Pride and Prime Rib

Saturday night was Trevor’s fire department Christmas party. His parents babysat for us, and we made a date night out of it. We also managed to take pictures together without Trevor making faces (this is a big deal)!

I bought my shirt at Stein Mart earlier in the day and didn’t try it on first… Big mistake!! It was so clingy, I was horrified. Y’all, if you could snap an abdominal muscle from sucking in too hard, it would have happened!! I was wearing a tight camisole and even resorted to using my pregnancy Bella band to try to contain the intense love handle/ spare tire situation. I’ve decided that it is time for me to invest in Spanx!!

Once we got to the party, we mingled, had a few drinks and ate dinner. The fire department holds the party at a local country club and they do a really nice job. They have a prime rib carving station and all kinds of good stuff. It was all very helpful for my already dire tight clothing situation. Or not!

Once we finished eating, they started the awards ceremony. This was certainly the highlight of the evening. Guess who was awarded “Firefighter of the Year” for his area?

I am so, so proud of Trevor! He works so hard, and he truly deserved this. He loves his job, and he is so dedicated to doing the best that he can, always trying to better himself. He is always being moved from station to station, filling in for people all over the county, and he never complains. He wants to do his job well, and he certainly does. It is so amazing to see him be recognized for his achievements and be truly appreciated! Trevor is such a fantastic role model for our children, and I could not be more proud to be married to him!

I invested in my first-ever pair of Spanx back in October. My son is approaching 8 months old and I still haven’t been able to get rid of the little pooch that remains after losing the baby weight, and the Spanx really helps to make it not so jiggly. I had originally thought that Spanx would give the appearance of a slimmer midsection so I expected a lot from the garment, but making my belly just appear less squishy instead is better than nothing I suppose.

Congrats to your husband on his award.

After I had my son in 2011, I knew I wanted to get some Spanx, too. Then I learned how expensive they were… Not cool! One suggestion I have (if you really do want Spanx), is to go to Target. They have a “Spanx for Target” line that is the same thing as actual Spanx, but about 1/2 the price.

Girl, you are CRAZY! Before I read the whole “suck it in all night” statement, I thought to myself “Dang, she is so slim”. I’m currently pregnant with my second and hope I can look half as good as you! Love your blog and your family!

I think you look great! I understand though when you don’t feel good it doesn’t matter how many compliments you get.

Congrats to your husband and it sounds like he’s an awesome worker, hubby and father.

    Blessings to you all!
