Best Diet Ever

by Jessica on March 2, 2012

* I know that ad is huge, sorry, but after endless doctor’s visits for a certain jaundiced newborn, mama needs some extra money!!*

In the two and a half weeks since I had Brody, I’ve lost a total of 26 pounds. I only have seven pounds left until I hit my pre-pregnancy weight. (Yay!) After I had Knox, it took me just over four weeks to get to this same point, so for whatever reason, I’m losing a lot more quickly this time. A big chunk of that weight came off right after delivery, but I’ve continued to lose at a pretty steady rate. I credit this to breast feeding, which is seriously the best non-diet anyone could hope to ask for! Basically, I eat whatever I want (and lots of it) and keep dropping the pounds.

And speaking of eating… I have definitely been doing a lot of that! Our Sunday School class is completely amazing- they set up a meal calendar for us, and basically a couple from our class is signed up to bring us dinner three times a week for the first six weeks (our class is really big!). It is fantastic, and it’s been the biggest blessing to us. Plus, since we haven’t been able to come to church since Brody was born, it’s a great chance to catch up with our friends from Sunday school that we normally see every week and have missed.

Everyone brings us lots of dessert, too, with all of those dinners, so there is always something delicious here that begs to be eaten. All of this to say, I am enjoying this lifestyle now, while I’m on maternity leave, because once I’m cleared to exercise again, I plan on starting the couch to 5k program and will learn to be a runner. I’ve always wanted to run because runners have the best physiques ever, and Trevor is super excited to have a running partner soon to do marathons with. Hopefully I like it, because if not, Trevor is totally holding me to this because is so thrilled about it!! We still need to get a double jogging stroller so that we can actually get out and run with two kids, but I am actually looking forward to getting into shape! I figure if I have to have stretch marks all over my stomach, it’s at least going to be a super flat stomach with ridiculously awesome abs!

Yay for YOU!!! And your weight loss. I am having a harder time this go around, but still seeing the lbs go…so slowly. I am at 6 months out and I have lost about 12 lbs…still have 15 to go!!! I think my body will let go of a lot of that weight when I am done BFing because I work out like crazy!!!! We will see!

To the ladies above: WEIGHT WATCHERS!!!! I hung on to 10 lbs post preg. 1, and I was exercising TONS (a 3 mile walk, hour on the treadmill, 30 day shred, lifting weights-EVERY day!) It really was my eating-and I was “healthy” eating, no candy, junk, etc…once I started weight watchers (and the beauty is you get a ton of extra nursing points, so there is room for junk!) I dropped about 20 lbs (putting me at 10 lbs less than when I got pregnant) in about 5 months. I had a baby 2 6 months ago, and within 4 months I was pretty much back to normal size, had a few lbs left, but I mostly fit into everything and looked relatively good! I started WW at 6 weeks and at 6 months I was down all 42 lbs! I REALLY swear by WW…

Jessica-I decided this go around I would also become a runner-they look so great, best body, and it’s so admirable everyone who really can distance run-OUTSIDE!!! So I started the Couch 2 5K..within 3 weeks I was able to run 3 miles straight! (I had previously been exercising so…) but it really works-i’m totally shocked! I never in a million years thought I could be like this. I am up to 5 miles straight-with our double jogging stroller!!!! Unbelievable! BTW-BOB revolution is the absolute best jogging stroller! I found ours on craigslist and it’s awesome, maybe you can do the same?!? Anyway, good luck, anything is achievable if you just do it! I never believed that to be the case, but now I do!!! Keep us posted, I love to hear success stories!!!!

You make me so excited to get started! We’ve been scouring Craigslist for a good double stroller, too, so hopefully we’ll get lucky and find a nice one like you did!

That’s awesome! Breastfeeding is my favorite diet. I lost all 35 lbs of baby weight plus another 15 lbs. Then I got a little lazy, she stopped nursing as much, and now I’m pg with #2. I’m hoping to be a little more diligent this time around.

I am so jealous of your Sunday School class! (and not just because of the food!) My husband and I are still searching for the right church since we have moved.
I hope my baby weight falls off as quickly as yours! Another of the many positives of breast feeding!
