Excuse me while I run around screaming.

In one week, my life is going to get chaotic. School is starting on the 23rd, and I have to say, I’m starting to doubt my sanity. Now that I have the syllabi for both of my classes, I have this to say: AHHHHHHH! This is going to be so much work. I cannot even express how much I wish I could take these classes on-campus. I have a nagging feeling that these online courses are going to kick my butt pretty hard. I am a visual learner. I like to see my professors, take notes, have things tangibly in-hand. I think it’s going to be a real struggle for me to do this online-only learning thing. Let’s hope I don’t fail miserably!!

In addition to me taking on school, Trevor only has THREE weeks left of fire training!! WOO HOO! To say that fire training has been stressful would be the understatement of, oh, the century. I miss my nice husband!! Poor guy has been so stressed out, but at least now, the end is in sight and he’s feeling a lot of excitement. Their humongous cumulative “Firefighter II” test was last week, and he passed, so that was a big relief for both of us. They save the math-intensive pump operation information for the last week, of course, so hopefully Trevor will prove to be much better at math than his wife! He did get his permit for driving the fire truck last week, which is exciting, because men love to drive big vehicles, in case you didn’t know. His graduation is set for September 2, and I am very excited that 1) that means fire school is over and 2) Knox and I get to “pin” Trevor. They allow the firefighters to pick who pins their fireman badge on them at graduation, so Trevor wants me to bring up Knox for him to hold while I pin him. I think that’s going to be such a special moment. Now, I need to find a really cute firetruck/ fireman outfit for Knox to wear!

Oh, and one more random thing: I helped move my baby sister into her dorm on Friday. That’s just not right. And yes, I bought her pepper spray for her keychain. Because that’s what good sisters do.

I totally had pepper spray on my keychain when I went to college! Lol My dad gave it to me… and there were times when I walked around the dark campus with my finger on the trigger… just in case. Ha! But I never used it. And this pregnant lady over here totally teared up when I read about you and Knox pinning Trevor! Maybe it was just a surge of hormones! ;)

LOL, Jackie, I did the same thing with mine! I used to have it pointed and ready to go! I told my sister there was no shame in walking around like that!

Yup! I remember thinking, none of my friends better try to run up and scare me… or who knows what would have happened with my finger on that trigger and the mace pointed and ready to go! Thank goodness none of them did! Ha! But it is always a safe (paranoid and aware) practice, way to be a good big sis! lol

This fall is the fall of new beginnings!! I think you’ll find that online classes aren’t as bad as they seem. They’ll take some getting used to, of course, but they’ll also allow you to study at your own pace a bit – a blessing with a family, job and everything else!

The fireman pinning sounds like it will be a really special moment for you all! Congrats to Trevor on almost finishing his training.
Good luck on your online classes! Oh, and my sister bought me keychain pepper spray when I went to college too :)

xx, Amy

JESS! This is all such great stuff! So excited for Trevor to be done (and you and Knox to pin him – swoon!), and YES, pepper spray is SO what good big sisters give their little sisters. :) My baby brother is off to NYU in two weeks. OMG. We are from California (I’m the only one in Nevada) and to go to the other side of the country is HUGE. You’re right, it’s just not right that our little sibs are growing up!

Oh, and regarding the classes? You’ve got this in the bag, sister. You’re a rockstar, and you can do it!

I took lots of online classes while I was getting my associate’s degree and yes, they are so much harder! You really have to apply yourself and make time to study, but I’m sure you will do great, girl! My #1 recommendation is to NEVER take a math class online if you can help it! Wowza! :)

I think it’s so cute that Know is pinning is Daddy at his graduation! Definitely take pictures of that to share!

Thank goodness I am done with math! Although I am sure that learning Hebrew online is going to be just as bad!

Just keep telling yourself over and over that you can do it and it will be fine!
And once Trevor graduates it will be even better!

Jessica,
I am Jewish- I know Hebrew fluently- any questions you have just ask away…. Call it just ask the Jew! Really I mean it.. it’s a hard language I was 9 and 26 years later, still speak hebrew on holidays @ temple.

I’ve taken many classes online. The best advice that I can offer is SET ASIDE TIME because you’ll need and and STAY ON SCHEDULE. I took a few when Jake was born and wow it was tough to take that time for myself. It’s harder to catch up if you fall behind on them so just make sure you don’t leave things to the last minute and you will do super. I don’t even know you and I’m proud of you!

Thank you for the advice, Tara! My classes were already put up yesterday, so I am definitely going to try to work ahead as much as I can.
