A shift

As a serial mind-changer, I have decided to… change my mind. Here is the invitation we’re using for Knox’s birthday:

As you may have noticed, there’s a cowboy on it. That’s because we nixed the whole “Great Outdoors” theme for something more broad that we can actually agree on! Welcome to the West! Did you know that there is an invariable smorgasbord of adorable cowboy birthday stuff out there? Note to self: you are on a budget, and Dave Ramsey does NOT care about coordinating decor items. Never fear guys, I’ll be making a ton of stuff myself for this party. Even the invitations are budget-friendly because I can print them myself!  DIY is fun, so I am pretty pumped.

At least this is one thing I can cross of the list. Next up? Teaching Knox to sleep.
_______
Edited To Add: I am taking a party planning break. For at least a week. Don’t let me talk about this dang party for at least seven full days because I look back at the woodland forest invitation and still want it! Who knows what the heck this party will end up like. By the time I figure out what I want Knox will be 17.

I like it! I think cowboy theme is very cute. And, yes, there is a lot of cowboy themed stuff available out there.

My choice? I really liked the outdoor theme. Adorable! Even though I did not comment on your invitations post. I thought both the outdoor themed invites were great. And, if I remember correctly, aren’t y’all moving out to the outdoorsy countryside? (I thought I had read that on your blog, sorry if not, I haven’t been a frequent enough reader.)

I liked it, too, but I could not deal with the invitation disagreements! I’ll probably end up changing my mind again because that’s how I roll. And don’t you know I found the freaking cutest woodland forest stuff last night after I ordered the new invite. Growl. :(

Okay, so here’s my idea since you are having a hard time picking a theme (and I often have the same problem so I don’t blame you one bit!)….have “stations”. It would actually be a blast for guests, to tell you the truth. In one corner you have the “Wild West” all decked out with your budget-friendly decor and then in another corner you have the “Outdoors” and then in another corner you can have _____. Don’t laugh! I know it sounds cooky, but I am busy envisioning it in my head and I am getting idea upon idea stacked up in my brain! Guests would have a great time going to these different “stations” and possibly doing something fun that ties into that certain theme. I know a bunch of one year olds only want to play with the plastic cups, but adults wanna have fun too!

Anyways, that’s my idea since you are having trouble deciding. Simplify it and do a few! Oh, and we went to a Halloween party where they had one of those wall things that have the body painted, but holes for you to stick your face in and then get a picture. We were all scarecrows I think. But, anyways, you could do something like that for one of the stations. Something you could easily go and buy some cardboard and paint yourself. I LOVED getting a picture of me and my family. It was a great thing to take home!

That’s a really cute idea! I am definitely going to blend the two themes together, one way or another.

I saw a Web site with one of those picture cut-outs, and they’re definitely a neat touch to a party.
