Knox and I spent the morning at two community garage sales. Since I am having a decorating fit and have no money to spend, I figured this was a good idea. I spent a grand total of $9 on a bunch of goodies. I love the giant pineapple wooden finial in the back- it still had the $29 sticker on it, but I paid $3.

However, the deals of the day were most definitely these candlesticks.

I snagged them for… wait for it… $1. For two. That’s 50 cents each, people. I saw them and liked their look- I figured they were pretty nice, they were solid and looked like they were in great shape, though they needed some polishing up. The woman that was selling them said I could have them for whatever I wanted to pay her. She had some other candelabras, too, but they were kind of rickety and in not as good shape. She said “I got these from my mom, they may be silver,” but her teenage son quickly chimed in “No they’re not! They’re, like, pewter or something, Mom.” Teenage boys shouldn’t be so quick to think their moms are stupid! Ha! When I got home, I looked up the name “Godinger” that was inscribed on the bottom.

Well, well, well. According to this online appraisal I found, they ARE silver, and they’re worth about $150. Woo hoo! I HEART GARAGE SALES! I can’t wait to get them shined up and all pretty again.

Just because I am addicted to looking at pictures of other people’s houses right now, I decided to participate in “Show us your life Friday” at Kelly’s Korner. Today is Master Bedrooms, so here it is. I adore our furniture, but it is WAY too big for our room! We have a King size bed, two nightstands, an armoire and a huge dresser with mirror. I guess we should have gotten the Queen bed, but you know what? I don’t care that our bed is too big because it is AMAZING. I love all of that room to stretch out. Plus, it’s great for co-sleeping with Knox when he finagles his way in there with us. One day we’ll have a bigger room, but for now, we’ll just deal with less walking space!
Our bedding is different now, but in the same tones of blue and cream. These pictures are from about a year ago. The art over the bed is a cheap imitation of the real thing. I loved the prints of “Warmth” from Ballard Design, but hello, not paying that much! So I ordered a poster of it online and glued it to a canvas. Then, I sanded it with a sanding block and sprayed some clear sealant over it. Voila! Art for cheap.
The pictures between the windows are vintage postcard prints on tin from Hobby Lobby and I strung some ribbon through the hangers on the back.
One day I will buy curtain rods for in here, but Dave Ramsey doesn’t believe in curtain rods. He believes in money saving. Maybe I’ll talk him into it eventually. I would show you the other side, but I don’t have a picture of it on my computer. That’s the edge of the dresser at the bottom right- for real, it’s squishy in there.
That’s our bedroom!

I already know the answer to this question, but seriously, at what point in your child’s development do they let you get some shut-eye? Knox woke me up at 5:30 this morning, which is definitely before my brain is awake. He is sweet as can be in the mornings, even at such an abysmal hour. I usually pull him in bed with us and feed him while laying down, and generally, he falls asleep and chills in our bed until about 7.
And then there are those days like today.
He eats, then immediately starts talking. It’s quiet at first. Just a “Dah” here or there. Then, “Da da da da.”
Pause. Maybe he’s gone to sleep? Yes! I start to doze…
“DA DA DA! Heeeeeee! Ha! DA DA DA DA DA DA!”
Never mind.
Generally, he wants to be completely up in my business in the morning. Curled up against me, pulling my hair, kicking my ribs, sticking his fingers up my nose etc. However, the second he sees Trevor, what a thrill. He immediately starts to scratch his face. I don’t know why the scratching is such a “thing” with him, but alas, he’s a scratcher. And a pincher, fyi. He pokes Trevor in the eye, hits him in the face and is just extremely rough with him. But Trevor has the secret weapon: the side swipe sleeper hold. I made that name up just now. He does some magical thing where he scoops Knox up in one hand, slides him in under his arm and against his side and Knox is asleep in five seconds flat. I don’t know how he does it, but it’s glorious. It’s never failed.
Until this morning. Side swipe sleeper hold FAIL. Oh well, that’s what coffee is for right? Oh yeah… I didn’t drink any. That’s why I’m tired. Note to self: get coffee.
And just because it’s REALLY cute… here are my boys in their backwards hats.

Please tell me it comes back.
After eight months of pregnancy (since Knox was impatient and had to come at 36 weeks) and eight more months of raising a baby, that’s a total of 16 months I have lived without a libido. Poor, poor Trevor. He asks me frequently if it’s ever coming back… I say “Of course it is!” I don’t want to scare him with the truth- I don’t know!! Let’s just say that I am night and day different than I used to be, and this change is definitely noticed by my husband. I feel so badly for him. He tries his hardest to make things fun and make me feel like I used to, but no dice- I blame the breast feeding. Because it’s certainly not for lack of attraction. That man still makes me say “mmm” when he takes his shirt off.
I try my best to fake it, but it’s pretty obvious that I’m not into it anymore. I feel so horrible because I honestly love him more than I ever have before- we’ve gotten so much closer since the day we got married, but I’m just not in the mood to “show” him physically.
Some one please tell me that my sex drive will return after I am finished breast feeding. PLEASE!

Knox has a new obsession: looking down my shirt. Let me clarify. When I say “looking down my shirt,” I really mean trying to touch my boobs. When I’m changing him, he pulls on the neckline of my shirt and looks down it. When I’m sitting with him on the couch, he pulls the collar of my shirt and tries to put his entire head down inside of it. If it’s not his head, it’s his arms, he just wants to be near my boobs. He really, really likes boobs. When I’m about to feed him or just finish, he squishes his little head between them and just sits there. I have no idea what this is about, but it’s so funny. While this is mildly hilarious to watch, it’s becoming a situation when he tries to do this in public places. Um, no thank you, Knox, I’d like to keep my shirt ON in the church lobby. I guess this is the beginning of a lot of fun to come. I’ve had to restrain myself from videoing this… I figure he’s REALLY appreciate something like that when he’s about 14.
Although, he has now graduated from just being interested in just my chest- he likes other boobs, as well. My friend and cousin-in-law, Sara, who is pregnant with their first (a girl!), came over with my cousin this weekend for dinner. She held Knox for me while I was getting his baby food ready and he got all excited about her pregnancy cleavage and stuck his arm down her shirt. Luckily, she had forewarning of his boob-liking and thought it was funny. I sincerely hope he doesn’t start doing this to all women. It’s like, “hey, how are you, let me hold one of things.” Hopefully this is a phase that passes quickly… at least until he hits puberty when I am sure the interest will return.
