Shower #2

Posted on | December 14, 2009 | 4 Comments

My second shower on Sunday was great! My fabulous Aunt-in-Law did a wonderful job throwing it, thanks so much, D! There was a great turnout and we got lots of fabulous gifts (baby monitor, bottles, Bumbo, clothes, toys, gift cards, etc). It was great talking to everyone and playing with the little kids that came. I had never even met some of these ladies, and I felt so lucky to have people that I’ve just met come to celebrate our son. It’s really amazing.

I did not get many good pictures from this one, I’ll have to get some from my MIL. I got my sister to take pictures with my camera, but it was from a HORRIBLE angle (hello, five chins) and I had two three-year olds directly in front of me the whole time (they were very interested in the baby gifts!). The little girl said the CUTEST thing ever when I was fixing my plate of refreshments, she asked me “Are you getting some food for your baby?” AW! She kept trying to give me crackers “for my baby,” and it was just so sweet.

I had a great evening, and I just cannot believe how much tiny Knox has already accumulated. It’s amazing how much stuff such a little person needs.

Opening gifts:

Our massive pile of gifts in Knox’s room. Note the two canvas boxes stuffed with clothes- this kid will be very well-dressed!:

And the adorable turtle mobile from BabyGap. I still need to sew a cover for the white plastic arm, but it’s still just so cute!

As promised yesterday, Lindsey’s amazing artwork. I cannot wait to hang up this surfboard!

Thanks to our parents, the only “big ticket” item we have left to purchase is our swing. We are so lucky to have parents like we do. They are so excited for Knox’s arrival, and they went a little crazy shopping for these showers and for Christmas! We have a few necessities we still need to get, but our friends and family took care of our registry pretty well!

I am almost finished with thank you notes, I am an obsessive thank you note writer! I think I have about ten more left, but hopefully they’ll all be sent out today. I refuse to open/ wash anything until the thank you has been mailed!

Lucky girl and lucky Knox! Bedrest means my other shower in N. California – which is 4 hours from my home in Reno, NV – is postponed until after baby comes. My hubby and I still have to buy so much for the baby…stuff we can't wait for until a few months after his birth. :( So glad you're all set!

Looks like you had a couple of great showers! I agree with you about the "Thank you" cards, I am obsessive about them, too. I had my shower on Saturday afternoon and by Monday afternoon all of my "Thank you" cards were mailed out. Isn't it amazing how generous people are when it comes to babies? I was putting away our little one's loot for DAYS! Congrats :)

It sounds like you had some great showers, and it's awesome how generous your family and friends were! I'm impressed with how far ahead you are with your thank you notes! My baby is now 3 weeks old, and I'm still trying to get all mine written!
